Sources close to the federal lawmaker disclosed that consultations with political stakeholders, supporters and leaders across Ibarapa land and Oyo State have reached advanced stages ahead of the planned declaration. The move is coming barely 7 hours after Ibarapakan cited unresolved internal crises within the PDP as the reason for quitting the party.
Peoples Conscience gathered that the lawmaker has continued to hold strategic meetings with political associates and loyalists across the state and the two local government areas he represents, with many supporters reportedly expressing readiness to follow him into the new political platform. Although the party he intends to join has not been officially disclosed, political observers believe the development may significantly reshape the political structure in the constituency ahead of future elections.
A close ally of the lawmaker, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the decision was taken after wide consultations and careful consideration of the political atmosphere within the state and the country at large. According to the source, the new platform would provide Ibarapakan with a better opportunity to continue his developmental agenda and strengthen grassroots participation in governance.
Efforts to get official confirmation from the lawmaker’s media team were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report. However, supporters across Ibarapa communities have continued to react to the development, with many awaiting the May 15 declaration which is expected to attract political leaders, party faithful, youth groups and supporters from different parts of Oyo State.
