The Onidere of Idereland, His Royal Majesty Oba Kingsley Aderoju Oyelami Onikola JP, JP (Olufiji II), has installed Chief Dr. Olusola Ayandele (Eruobodo) as the Asiwaju of Idereland, alongside his wife, Dr. Mrs. Olufolayimika Ayandele, who was installed as the Yeye Asiwaju of Idereland.
The traditional installation, held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at the New Onidere Palace, Molete, Idere, in Ibarapa Central Local Government Area of Oyo State, brought together traditional rulers, chiefs, government officials, dignitaries, family members, friends and residents of the Idere community.
The ceremony commenced with the arrival of guests and members of the Idere Traditional Council, followed by the seating of the newly installed chief and his family, invited traditional rulers, Baales and government officials. The arrival of the Onidere, Oba Kingsley Aderoju Oyelami Onikola JP, JP, formally set the stage for the commencement of the traditional proceedings.
The event featured opening prayers by Christian, Muslim and traditional worshippers, the introduction of dignitaries and traditional rulers and the presentation of the new Asiwaju and Yeye Asiwaju. Traditional rites, including homage to the Kabiyesi and other traditional rulers as well as the rendition of the Ewi and beating of the traditional Agere drum, enriched the occasion.
In his address, the Onidere highlighted the significance of the chieftaincy institution and the responsibilities that come with the new titles. The programme also featured goodwill messages, an address by the Local Government Chairman, advice to the newly installed chief and a response from Chief Dr. Olusola Ayandele.
The installation marks a significant development in the history of the Ayandele family and the wider Idere community, as the new Asiwaju and Yeye Asiwaju join the traditional leadership structure with expectations to contribute meaningfully to the development, unity and progress of Idereland.
In an appreciation message, the Ayandele family expressed deep gratitude to the monarchs, chiefs, dignitaries, family members, friends and the entire Idere community for their overwhelming support, goodwill and presence at the historic ceremony. The family described the occasion as a defining moment and prayed for continued blessings for all who contributed to making the event memorable.
