The Governing Council of the University of Ibadan has appointed Professor Peter Olapegba as the new Vice-Chancellor of Nigeria’s premier university, Peoples Conscience reports.
Olapegba, a Professor of Social and Health Psychology, hails from Igbo-Ora in Ibarapa Central Local Government Area of Oyo State. He has held several strategic positions at the University of Ibadan, including Dean of the Faculty of the Social Sciences and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), earning a reputation for academic excellence, administrative competence and visionary leadership.
His appointment follows decades of distinguished service within the university system and has sparked widespread jubilation across the Ibarapa zone of Oyo State. Many residents described his emergence as a historic milestone for the region and a testament to his outstanding contributions to academia and university administration.
