Strong indications from the Presidency and top hierarchy of the APC suggest that Hon. Sarafa Olaito Olaoniye, popularly known as “Bibire,” is emerging as the preferred consensus candidate for Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Bibire, a former Caretaker Chairman and Executive Vice Chairman of Ibarapa Central Local Government, is said to currently enjoy the backing of influential figures within the party. He also served as the Campaign Director-General of Hon. Muraina Saubana Ajibola during the last general election.
Sources within the presidency disclosed to Peoples Conscience that, as of last night, the arrangement and ongoing consultations have not changed.
Although the race is still being projected publicly as a contest between Hon. Muraina Saubana Ajibola, a three-term member of the House of Representatives and Hon. Sarafa Olaoniye, insiders insist that party leaders have largely settled for Bibire as their preferred choice.
However, political watchers say the contest may still remain open, as Hon. Muraina Saubana Ajibola, Hon. Saheed Oladele and Hon. Olusegun Okanlawon are reportedly not resting on their oars ahead of the party’s internal permutations and consultations.
The development is expected to trigger fresh political calculations, alignments, and negotiations within the APC structure across Ibarapa land and Oyo State at large as the 2027 elections draw closer.
In the same vein, the source disclosed that the party’s House of Representatives ticket for Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency has been ceded to an eminent member of the party from Lanlate.
