‘I Will Reveal My Next Political Move Soon’ — Ibarapa Central House Leader, Hon. Niran Adepoju Dumps PDP

Hon. Niran Adepoju, the Leader of the House in Ibarapa Central Local Government Legislative Council, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the lingering legal and internal crises rocking the party at both the national and state levels.

Adepoju, who represents Ward 7 in Igbo-Ora, announced his resignation in a letter made available to newsmen on Thursday, May 7, 2026, stating that the unresolved legal battles within the PDP have continued to create uncertainty and instability among members across the country.

The lawmaker noted that after wide consultations with political associates, supporters and family members, he decided to part ways with the party in order to pursue a new political direction that aligns with his personal convictions and the interests of his constituents.

He, however, appreciated the Peoples Democratic Party for providing him with the platform in 2024 through which he contested and emerged as a councillor representing the good people of Ward 7 in Igbo-Ora. He described his time in the PDP as rewarding and filled with valuable political experiences.

Adepoju also expressed deep appreciation to his political leaders, associates and loyal supporters who stood by him throughout his political journey in the party. He assured them that his next political move would soon be made public after due consultations.

The Ibarapa Central legislative leader, however, pledged his continued loyalty and support to the Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, whom he described as a visionary leader committed to the development of the state. He equally reaffirmed his allegiance to his political leader, Hon. Dr. Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency.

He added that his decision to resign from the PDP should not be seen as an act of betrayal, but rather a necessary step taken in the interest of his political future and that of his supporters, while calling on members of the party to remain peaceful despite the current challenges confronting the PDP.
