Deputy House Leader, Hon. Lawrence Adepoju, Resigns from PDP in Ibarapa Central

The Deputy Leader of Ibarapa Central Local Government Legislative House, Hon. Lawrence Oluwasetemi Adepoju, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), deepening the wave of defections currently affecting the party in Oyo State.

Adepoju, who represents Ward 3 Koso/Apa, Idere, formally announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the leadership of the party in his ward, attributing his decision to the prolonged legal battles and unresolved internal crisis within the PDP.

According to the lawmaker, the lingering disputes within the party have continued to create uncertainty among members and stakeholders, making it difficult for committed party faithful to remain focused on collective political goals.

He explained that his decision followed extensive consultations with political associates, supporters and family members, stressing that the move was taken in the interest of his political future and the aspirations of the people he represents.

Adepoju acknowledged the support he has received from political associates, followers and constituents, describing their loyalty as invaluable throughout his time in office. He added that discussions are still ongoing regarding his future political direction, which will be made public at the appropriate time.

Reiterating his political alignment, he affirmed continued support for the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, while also maintaining close loyalty to his political leader, Hon. Dr. Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, stating that he remains committed to their shared vision for development in Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency.

He also sought to reassure his large base of supporters within the local government, noting that the ongoing wave of defections within the party should not be a cause for concern.

According to him, the current political realignments are driven by broader considerations and are ultimately in the collective interest of Ibarapa Central, Ibarapa North and Oyo State as a whole.
