Seven out of ten leaders of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State have endorsed the incumbent Vice Chairman, Hon. Bisi Akande, as their preferred candidate for the party’s chairmanship ticket ahead of the forthcoming local government election. The endorsement followed a stakeholders’ meeting held in Ayete, Ibarapa North headquarters in compliance with the directive of Oyo State Governor, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, asking party leaders across the state’s local governments to deliberate on candidates for the election.
According to information obtained by Peoples Conscience on Saturday, August 1, 2026, the meeting was attended by Hon. Orisadeyi Funmilayo, former Commissioner for Local Government and former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly; Hon. Tunde Adegbenjo, former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly; Hon. O. Majekodunmi Aborode, former Commissioner for Environment; Mr. Mathew Olayiwola Ojoogun, APM Chairman in Ibarapa North; Alhaji Sarafa Babarinde, Ayete Overall Leader; Hon. Billiaminu Okesooto, leader and former Chief of Staff in Ibarapa North; Alhaji Ganiu Ogundeji, former party chairman and current National Delegate; Mr. Azeez Saminu Ohio, Igangan leader; Alhaji Badmus Dauda; and Hon. Ajekiigbe Kayode.
After extensive deliberations on the party’s chairmanship ticket, seven of the ten leaders present endorsed Hon. Bisi Akande as their preferred candidate. The decision reflected the position of the majority of the stakeholders who participated in the meeting and demonstrated their confidence in his ability to lead the local government if eventually nominated by the party.
The leaders were said to have based their endorsement on Akande’s leadership qualities, administrative experience as the incumbent Vice Chairman and what they described as his commitment to the growth and development of Ibarapa North Local Government. The meeting also provided an opportunity for stakeholders to exchange views on the party’s preparations for the forthcoming council election.
With the endorsement, Hon. Bisi Akande has emerged as the preferred choice of the majority of APM leaders in Ibarapa North for the party’s chairmanship ticket.
