Ooni Donates N100m, Hilux Vehicle to Support Sunday Igboho’s Iru Ekun Security Network

The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has donated N100 million and a brand-new Hilux vehicle to the Iru Ekun Security Network, a community-based security outfit established by Yoruba Nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.

Peoples Conscience reports that the donation was announced on Tuesday when Sunday Igboho, accompanied by members of the security outfit, paid a courtesy visit to the Ooni at his palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State.

According to a statement issued by the Ooni’s Senior Media Officer, Sodiq Lawal, on behalf of the Director of Media and Public Affairs, Otunba Moses Olafare, the monarch described the Iru Ekun Security Network as a laudable initiative aimed at complementing existing security efforts in safeguarding lives and property across Yorubaland.

The Ooni commended Sunday Igboho for his courage, resilience and dedication to the safety and welfare of the Yoruba people, stressing that genuine leadership is measured by selfless service and meaningful contributions to society.

He noted that every son and daughter of Oduduwa has a collective responsibility to promote peace, unity and development in Yorubaland, adding that sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of security and stability.

The revered monarch said his financial donation and the presentation of the Hilux vehicle underscored his commitment to initiatives that strengthen community security and protect Yoruba communities.

“I commend Chief Sunday Igboho for taking a bold step towards strengthening community security. Protecting our people is a collective responsibility that transcends political, religious and ideological differences. Every initiative genuinely designed to preserve lives and maintain peace deserves encouragement and support,” the Ooni said.

He further urged traditional rulers, business leaders, professionals, traditionalists and other Yoruba stakeholders at home and in the diaspora to lend their support to the Iru Ekun Security Network, describing Sunday Igboho as a courageous patriot whose efforts would be remembered in history.

Responding, Sunday Igboho expressed appreciation to the Ooni for the generous donation and royal endorsement, describing the monarch as a unifying figure whose humility, wisdom and commitment to the Yoruba race continue to inspire millions across the world.

He disclosed that the visit was also to brief the Ooni on the activities of the security outfit and seek his continued guidance and blessings. Igboho further announced plans to convene a security summit involving traditional rulers across Yorubaland to deliberate on practical solutions to the region’s security challenges, subject to the Ooni’s approval.

He reaffirmed that the Iru Ekun Security Network would continue to operate within the confines of the law while collaborating with relevant authorities and local communities to enhance intelligence gathering, community policing and the protection of lives and property across Yorubaland.
