Member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, Hon. Dr. Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing unresolved internal conflicts rocking the party across Oyo State and his constituency.
In his resignation letter dated May 5, 2026, addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 4, Isale Penbo, Igbo-Ora, the federal lawmaker stated that the lingering crisis within the party has negatively affected his assignment as a legislator and created deep cracks within the party’s leadership structure.
Hon. Adepoju, as obtained by Peoples Conscience, noted that his loyalty and dedication to the PDP since securing the party’s ticket in 2022 contributed to his electoral victory in 2023. He also described the PDP as more than just a political party to him, recalling that his late father, Dr. Amos Ademola Adepoju, was a founding father of the PDP in 1998 and served as the party’s National Financial Secretary between 1999 and 2002.
According to him, the decision to resign was necessary to enable him focus on the mandate entrusted to him by the people of Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency.
The lawmaker assured his supporters at home and abroad that his next political move would be made known in due course.
