The Super Eagles of Nigeria have booked their place in the semi-final of the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) after a convincing 2–0 victory over Algeria.
Nigeria broke the deadlock shortly after the second half restart, with Victor Osimhen opening the scoring in the 47th minute following a well-timed assist from Bruno Onyemaechi. The Super Eagles doubled their advantage ten minutes later when Akor Adams found the back of the net in the 57th minute, this time assisted by Osimhen, to seal the victory.
The result extends Nigeria’s impressive unbeaten run in the tournament. Under Eric Chelle (head coach), the Super Eagles have now scored 14 goals and conceded 6 in five matches, highlighting their attacking strength and resilience.
Nigeria will now face the host nation, Morocco, in the semi-final clash scheduled for Wednesday, January 14, 2026. Morocco have also been solid throughout the competition, conceding just one goal so far, setting the stage for a highly anticipated showdown between two African football giants.
Football fans across the continent will be eagerly watching as the Super Eagles aim to secure a place in the AFCON final.
