HMC Convener Olugbenga Sunday Unites Three African Nations to Celebrate Charity Isong’s Birthday

Hospitality professionals from across Africa converged at a world-class hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, to celebrate Charity Isong, Administrative Executive of Tojum Hospitality, in a memorable surprise birthday ceremony organised by the Convener of the Hotel Managers Conference Africa (HMCA), Mr. Olugbenga Omotayo Sunday.

The carefully planned celebration brought together distinguished hospitality executives and professionals from Nigeria, Kenya and Cameroon, representing West Africa, East Africa and Central Africa, in what organiser described as a symbolic recognition of Isong’s growing impact on the African hospitality industry.

Speaking during the celebration, Mr. Omotayo explained that the multinational gathering was intentionally designed to reflect Charity Isong’s significant contributions to three major projects in their group, which include Hotel Managers Conference Africa, Hotel Managers School and Tojum Hospitality.

He described Isong as a versatile and highly dependable professional whose dedication has become invaluable to the organisation.

“Charity is a versatile lady who handles three prominent projects in our group. She serves as the Executive Administrative Officer, supports the Hotel Managers Conference Africa, the Hotel Managers School and Tojum Hospitality. Since she is handling three projects, I thought about bringing nationals from at least three African countries to celebrate her birthday. Today, we have representatives from Kenya, Cameroon and Nigeria. But I did not stop there, I also brought together three regions of Africa: East Africa, Central Africa and West Africa would make her day colorful and to the grace of God we are able to achieve that. That is how special she is to us,” Olugbenga remarked.

The event demonstrates the growing spirit of collaboration among African hospitality professionals and highlighted the value placed on exceptional leadership, commitment and administrative excellence within the industry.

As Administrative Executive at Tojum Hospitality, Charity Isong plays a strategic role in coordinating the activities of the Hotel Managers Conference Africa (HMCA), one of the continent’s foremost hospitality conferences, while also supporting the operations of Hotel Managers School (HMS) and contributing significantly to Tojum Hospitality’s corporate initiatives.

Guests at the celebration praised her calm leadership style, attention to detail and ability to coordinate complex projects with remarkable efficiency.

The event also featured the presence of respected hospitality leaders from different parts of Africa, reinforcing HMCA’s commitment to fostering continental partnerships and professional networking. Among those in attendance were executives and industry experts from Nigeria, Cameroon and Kenya, whose participation reflected the conference’s vision of building a stronger and more connected African hospitality ecosystem.

The surprise celebration concluded with a sumptuous breakfast, photographs, networking sessions and a birthday toast in honour of Charity Isong, whose contributions, according attendees, continue to strengthen the growth and reputation of Tojum Hospitality and its flagship initiatives across Africa.
