Days after some APC stakeholders in Ibarapa adopted a zoning formula ahead of the 2027 general elections, political activities within the party in Ibarapa Central and North Federal Constituency have intensified, following the declaration of ambition by Hon. Adelani Adesope Atobatele for the Oyo State House of Assembly seat.
The declaration was made during ward meetings held on March 10 across Wards 5, 6, 8, and 9 in Ibarapa Central, where party members and leaders received his intention to represent Ibarapa North and Central Constituency.
The meetings, attended by stakeholders from Igangan, Tapa, and Ayete, provided a platform for engagement between the aspirant and grassroots party members.
Party leaders who spoke at the meetings described Adesope as a committed and longstanding member of the APC with a reputation for diligence and community service. At Ward 9, the party chairman urged him to focus on policies that would benefit youths, women, and the elderly, while Ward 5 leader and G-22 member, Pa Bashir Abdulkareem, acknowledged his longstanding interest in the Assembly seat and expressed optimism about his prospects.
In his address, Adesope dismissed speculations that the party ticket had already been decided, maintaining that the APC remains open and democratic. He stressed that the process of selecting candidates should reflect the collective will of party members, free from imposition or undue influence.
He also called for unity within the party, warning that division and factionalism could undermine its chances in 2027. Adesope was accompanied by notable supporters, including Mr Rahmon Akeweje, and other stakeholders.
