The aftermath of the APC direct primaries in the 20 wards of Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North Federal Constituency has continued to generate mixed reactions, as camps loyal to third-term lawmaker Hon. Ajibola Muraina, Hon. Sarafa Olaoniye, Hon. Saheed Oladele and Hon. Olusegun Okanlawon all laid claim to victory in Saturday’s exercise.
Earlier reports by Peoples Conscience on May 7, 2026, indicated that Hon. Sarafa Olaoniye had emerged as the preferred choice of influential figures within the party hierarchy at both the state and federal levels. The media outfit also reported on May 15, 2026 that Hon. Muraina allegedly secured the backing of an Oyo South senatorial aspirant during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Ibadan on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
Despite the reported endorsement of the third-term lawmaker at the Ibadan meeting by a senatorial aspirant in the state, sources within the party maintained that Hon. Sarafa Olaoniye still enjoys the support of Senator Sharafadeen Ali and a prominent traditional ruler in Oyo State.
As tension mounted across the federal constituency, several videos from the primaries held on Saturday surfaced on social media, showing supporters celebrating and projecting confidence over the outcome of the exercise, while residents awaited the official declaration from the party leadership.
Peoples Conscience reliably gathered that shortly after the conclusion of the primaries on Saturday, key aspirants involved in the contest were invited to Ibadan in what observers described as a strategic move aimed at preventing possible unrest and managing post-primary grievances.
Meanwhile, a source within the Presidency who spoke with Peoples Conscience late hours of Saturday insisted that Hon. Sarafa Olaoniye remains the preferred candidate of the APC for Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general election.
At the time of filing this report, the APC had yet to release an official statement on the outcome of the exercise, fueling continued banter, speculations and political tension among supporters of the various aspirants across the constituency.
