The award-winning investigative media organisation,
Peoples Conscience, has appointed Mr. Femi Adesope as its new Editor-in-Chief as part of ongoing efforts to reposition and revitalise the platform.
The appointment was announced amid a broader restructuring aimed at strengthening the organisation’s watchdog role in Nigeria’s media landscape.
He has served in different capacities, including Editor-in-Chief of
Indy Press and
Tech Press Organizations, General Secretary of the Union of Campus Journalists' during his university days, as well as Secretary of the Ibarapa Development Forum (IDF) and Secretary of a new state creation committee, where he displayed exceptional writing prowess.
Mr. Femi is a member of the
Destiny Trust, a non-governmental organisation committed to empowering homeless children and disadvantaged young people through education and wellbeing initiatives.
According to Mr.
Oluseun Ogunlana, Chairman of Peoples Conscience, Mr. Adesope has demonstrated unbridled commitment, character and track records that align with the principles for which Peoples Conscience is known.
“Mr. Femi has contributed immensely to the development of Ibarapa Land. He is one of the few youths around who has no political affiliation and has involved himself in every cause geared towards the development of Ibarapa land,” he said.
“No society moves forward without strong journalism that serves as a watchdog in every area of life. The downtime of Peoples Conscience has created a vacuum, hence the need for this effort.
“We urge members of the public to accord the new Editor-in-Chief the honour and necessary support in his new assignment,” Mr. Ogunlana expressed.
He also used the opportunity to invite interested individuals who wish to pursue a career in journalism to join the organisation through its quarterly cohort, aimed at training
Nigerian youths in the art of journalism.
